Ayudas or aid has been the word of mouth ever since the community quarantine has been implemented by President Rodrigo Duterte. It comes in different forms: financial, relief goods, etc.
Pasig City’s bag of relief goods became the talk of the town recently. And it started when a citizen there posted a photo of the ayuda they received.
As seen in the photo, the local government unit (LGU) distributed canned goods, essentials, instant noodles, coffee, and seasonings. These all seemed regular items, right? Except one item caught the eye of netizens: Pepero.

Pepero is a South Korean brand of cookie sticks dipped in chocolate. It retails at around PHP49 for 32 grams. So, for it to be included in the bag is unexpected compared to the ones that regularly consist of rice, instant noodles, and canned goods.
The mayor then replied that the reason behind the “complete” bundle is for the residents’ consistent compliance to the community quarantine.
Para di na po kayo lumabas!!! Kung sumunod tayong lahat mas mabilis din po matatapos ang Localized ECQ sa inyo. Ingat po at God bless! https://t.co/YWEEJwERpk

Mayor Vico further stood out among his colleagues for his performance during the pandemic. His competence as an official has been constantly commended not just by his constituents, but also observants from other LGUs. This act just shows that the leader of the city is definitely thinking ahead.
