Being unable to go out on a weekend or a day off work can be a little frustrating. Canceled flights and postponed trips may not be your cup of tea, especially if you travel often. Much to the delight of many gallivanters, some popular travel destinations have lifted their travel bans.

What to pack should be the first thing that comes into your mind when you and your family or friends decide to go on a trip locally or internationally. And with the ongoing pandemic, attentiveness and mindfulness are integral to traveling now more than ever. Here’s a list of travel essentials you will need for your most awaited vacation.

Travel Documents

Travel and health documents required for your trip can vary based on your itineraries and personal situation. Passports, visas, and health documents—COVID-19 testing and vaccination card/certificate—are the primary requirements for international travel. Flight ticket details are also crucial for your trip. Several countries have introduced passenger locator forms which must be presented at check-in or immigration. Keep in mind that requirements may be different from travel document requirements for entry into the destination country.

Safety Essentials

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, hand sanitizers and masks have been a part of our daily essentials. Face masks cover the mouth and nose and block the release of virus-filled droplets into the air when you cough or sneeze, which helps slow the spread of COVID-19 while observing social distancing.

Basic Clothing

You’ll need to pack smart clothing options if your trip will take you to various places or if you will be navigating off the beaten path. Having a list with several options doesn’t mean you’ll need to over-pack. Bring clothes that you can wear on daily adventures and then dress up slightly with a different pair of shoes and a scarf. Additionally, you can bring comfortable travel pants that you can style easily if you must stroll at the market.

Gadgets

Living in the present by taking a mental picture of your travels is not ideal in a fast-paced world anymore. Capturing the moments is one of the highlights of a travel experience, so a camera is a must-have. If you’re packing light, your smartphone camera should do. Besides, there are several travel apps you can install to help you with language, directions, and money conversion. Listening to your favorite playlist with your headphones on is a plus!

Toiletries

Travel pack toiletries are almost always available at any supermarket. The all-in-one pack must include the basics, such as hair shampoo, conditioner, and a body wash. Give your oral health some love by packing your toothbrush, toothpaste, or mouthwash. Take note that on international travels, liquids, gels, aerosols, creams, and pastes are not allowed for carry-ons.

Now that you already know what to pack for your holiday travel, you can get on your travel bag and pack light and smart. Most importantly, be sure to follow safety protocols and observe social distancing to protect not only yourself and your family but also the people that keep your favorite travel destinations open.
