Some 428 individuals here have received food packs in exchange for their work under the city government’s food-for-work program.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the city’s Public Information Office (PIO) said each of the recipients received a food pack containing three kilos of rice, noodles, and canned goods for a day of work.

The beneficiaries have worked for five days, specifically in cleaning the drainage system in their respective barangays.

“According to Mayor Marc Brian Lim, the program (food-for-work) prioritizes the cleaning of the drainage system in preparation for the rainy season,” the PIO said.

The program was already conducted in the 26 out of the 31 barangays of the city as of June 30.

“The Barangay Affairs Office of the city government has already distributed a total of 2,140 food packs,” the PIO added. (PNA)
