Impact Week Philippines 2022, a design thinking challenge, gathers young innovators and industry experts from across the world. It aims to foster innovation, creativity, and sustainability in entrepreneurship among emerging economies and to address the current problems in the Philippines.

Participants are grouped and immersed in a challenge that allows them to create practical and feasible strategies that are responsive to the persisting issues in the country. These include education, inclusion, gender equality, urban development, sustainable aviation, disaster relief and the peace process in Mindanao.

The event was organized by Impact Week in collaboration with the help alliance and Lufthansa, the School of Diplomacy and Governance (SDG) and the Hub for Inclusion (HiFi) at the Peter D. Garrucho Jr. Innovations Institute of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and the University of Perpetual Help System-DALTA.

The four-day workshop, which is conducted at the Benilde HiFi, covers the entire process of the Design Thinking Methodology: Understanding, Observing, Synthesizing, Ideating, Prototyping and Testing. The teams are guided by a roster of local as well as international junior and senior coaches and innovation experts from the Asia Pacific region.

At the end of the exercise, a panel of jury members will evaluate the solutions. The winning idea may have a chance to secure further mentoring opportunities as well as funding for implementation.

Since its establishment in 2015, over 33 Impact Weeks have successfully convened more than 3,500 students from Colombia, Ghana, India, Jordan, Kenya, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Paraguay, Rwanda, South Africa and Uganda to create solutions for their respective local and wider community.

Impact Week Philippines 2022 will run until Thursday, November 17, 2022.
