4. Dr. Israel Bactol, cardiologist, Philippine Heart Center

Dr. Bactol was a second-year adult cardiology fellow of the Philippine Heart Center.

According to colleague Gelmark Olivares in a statement given to Jessica Soho of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, “Bactol was a very kind and humble physician.”

The PHA further announced its own grievances towards the young and promising doctor’s passing. “It is a sad day for the whole association as we have lost one of our own in the fight against COVID. He is a casualty of this war. We honor him as he lost his young life while fulfilling his duties as a doctor, a young cardiologist and a dedicated member of PHA (Philippine Heart Association).”

Dr. Israel Bactol died on March 21, 2020. He was 34 years old.
