The provincial government here has allotted five buses and 10 jeepneys to transport health workers to the Bulacan Medical Center (BMC) and other district hospitals in the province.

The free ride, which started on Friday, addresses the problem of Bulakenyo health workers in commuting to and from their workplace due to travel restrictions under the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

In an interview, Governor Daniel Fernando said health workers from BMC and district hospitals including Baliuag District Hospital in Baliwag, Calumpit District Hospital in Calumpit, Emilio G. Perez Memorial District Hospital in Hagonoy, Gregorio del Pilar District Hospital in Bulakan, Plaridel Emergency Infirmary Hospital in Plaridel, Rogaciano M. Mercado Memorial Hospital in Santa Maria, and San Miguel District Hospital in San Miguel may avail of the 24-our free ride that will be roving around their areas.

Fernando ordered the free ride as a sign of gratitude for the health workers’ unwavering dedication to serve and to show to the frontliners and volunteer workers that the provincial government is there to support and keep them safe.

“The provincial government recognizes the sacrifice made by our frontliners during this time. In the days when the public is encouraged to stay in their homes, our frontliners are suffering hardship away from their families to serve us all,” the governor said.

Based on the quarantine guidelines, public transport including buses, jeepneys, and tricycles are suspended. (PNA)
