Apple introduced two new MacBook Pro models on Monday, October 18 at an hour-long virtual event. Both versions will be powered by new powerful processors.
The new designs, available in 16-inch and 14-inch sizes, have curved edges similar to original MacBooks. It will be powered by Apple’s new M1 Pro chip, signifying the company’s ongoing shift away from Intel-designed processors.
Apple said the new processor, which is the M1 Max, has a 70% increase in CPU performance and double the increase in graphics performance over the M1 chip found in current Macs and iPads.
The MacBook Pro chassis has been entirely remodeled to ditch the divisive Touch Bar in favor of classic function buttons, return a full-sized HDMI port and SD card reader, and include a new MagSafe charging port.
The laptops’ screens are Mini-LED with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a notch similar to an iPhone at the top that contains a 1080p FaceTime camera. Additionally, the 14-inch MacBook Pro has a battery life of 17 hours and the 16-inch MacBook Pro has a battery life of 21 hours, according to Apple.
Moreover, the new MacBook Pro is available in two sizes: 14-inch and 16-inch, with prices starting at around PHP 100,000 and PHP 127,000, respectively. The upgraded devices will have faster processing speeds, improved graphics, better audio quality, and a better camera.
