The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Wednesday announced that it has received two upgraded facilities from the “TIKAS” program of the Department of National Defense (DND) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

“The newly improved and rehabilitated De Jesus Academic Building, as well as the completion of the new Wellness Center of the Special Intelligence Training School (SITS), will serve as an essential hub for training and a unique place of convergence for officers, faculty, students, and guests. With a total floor area of 6,575 square meters, the rehabilitated academic building houses offices, conference rooms, classrooms, and a library,” AFP public affairs office chief Col. Jorry Baclor said in a statement.

These facilities are located inside Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

The SITS is the AFP’s premiere intelligence training institution.

“These newly improved and constructed facilities shall become the bastion of learning and professional growth, as well as a center for camaraderie and physical wellness for military and civilian intelligence practitioners,” AFP chief of staff Lt. Gen. Bartolome Vicente Bacarro, said during Tuesday’s inauguration rites.

Baclor said the Quezon City 2nd District Engineering Office of the DPWH – National Capital Region implemented the TIKAS Project that began in December 2021 and was completed in August this year.

“TIKAS”, short for the “Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad” program, is part of the concerted efforts of the DND and the DPWH to shore up the defense and security capabilities of the AFP. (PNA)
