Instagram previews have returned to Twitter almost a decade after they vanished.
Tweets including a link to an Instagram post have been removed from Twitter since 2012. Instead of simply the URL text, when you share Instagram links on Twitter today, you’ll receive a preview of the link that includes an image.
The function is available on Android, iOS, and the web, and Instagram and Twitter are promoting it.
“They said it would never happen … Twitter Card previews start rolling out TODAY,” Instagram stated in a tweet. “Now, when you share an Instagram link on Twitter a preview of that post will appear,” they added.

Twitter’s Support account also highlighted the new feature, stating “If you want to share your latest Instagram post on the Twitter timeline too, you’re in luck: now when you share a link to an IG post in a Tweet, it’ll show up as a card with a preview of the photo.”

With Twitter now immersed in all forms of media, Instagram appears to have finally realized that a preview image is better than just a mere link.
