It may be Jayda Avanzado’s first time on a Metro.Style cover, but you couldn’t tell that just by looking at the photos. Already radiating elegance and wisdom at the age of 18, this singer, songwriter, and musician is the embodiment of local music’s newest generation.

As a Star Magic talent and Star Music/RISE artist, Jayda has over 160,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, with her songs “Happy For You” and “Perfectly Imperfect” garnering millions of plays. The music royalty and rising superstar recently released her latest single, “M.U. (Malabong Usapan).”

In Metro’s exclusive cover feature, Jayda talks about growing up with her parents, OPM icons Jessa Zaragoza and Dingdong Avanzado, as they toured America, her decision to join show business, the intricacies of her music, her upcoming “Jayda in Concert” virtual event and, of course, turning 18.

“I know that turning 18, ang daming mga responsibilities, but honestly, I’m up for the challenge. I know that this is the start of my adulthood. I always used to hear about people turning 18, but when you’re finally there in that position, it’s a different feeling. It’s a bittersweet feeling, almost,” she said.

For her Metro.Style 18th birthday shoot, she worked with photographer Dookie Ducay, videography team NicePrint, creative director and fashion stylist Eldzs Mejia, makeup artist Denise Go-Ochoa, and hairstylist RJ dela Cruz. The cover story is written by Sara de los Reyes.
