Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo has revealed her national costume, wearing a radiant Philippine flag-inspired costume at the 69th Miss Universe pageant in Florida, USA Today, May 14.

The outfit is inspired by the Philippine flag with the blue color representing “royalty,” red for the “courage and strength for women’s independence,” and yellow for the color of sun and stars.

“You’ll get far, just be who you are like in the Philippines,” the host said while Rabiya walked on the stage.

The beauty queen presented the feathery country’s flag designed by the late Rocky Gathercole, a Filipino International designer who passed away last March 3 due to heart failure. Rabiya’s national costume is among Gathercole’s last masterpieces.

 

Albert Andrada, MUP design council head describe Rabiya’s national costume as “fabulous.”

 

Rabiya’s evening gowns for the preliminary and final shows are yet to be revealed.
