Tropical Storm “Pepito” will continue to dampen most parts of Luzon, the weather bureau said on Wednesday.

Pepito was last tracked 115 kilometers northwest of Dagupan City, Pangasinan, or 120 km. west-northwest of Baguio City, moving west-northwestward at 30 kph.

The tropical storm still packs maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

In its 8 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast moderate to heavy rains over Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, La Union, Apayao, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Calamian Islands.

Light to moderate with at times heavy rains will be experienced over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, it added.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) no. 2 was hoisted over La Union, the northern portion of Zambales, and the western portion of Pangasinan.

TCWS no. 1 was hoisted over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, the rest of Pangasinan, Abra, the western portion of Kalinga, the western portion of Ifugao, Benguet, the western portion of Nueva Vizcaya, the western portion of Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, and the rest of Zambales.

Gale force winds and high (strong to near gale) winds will be experienced in areas under TCWS no. 2 and 1.

The northeasterly surface windflow will also cause high to gale force winds over the rest of northern Luzon, especially in coastal and mountainous areas.

Rough to very rough seas will be experienced over the areas under TCWS no. 2 and 1.

Moderate to rough seas will prevail over the eastern seaboards of southern Quezon, the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region, PAGASA said. (PNA)
