Some 220 aspiring cadets took the Philippine Military Academy entrance examination (PMAEE) on Oct. 9 and 10 at STI-West Negros University in this city.

Capt. Renato Wayagwag, officer-in-charge of PMAEE Proctor Team 7, said on Sunday the examinees during the two-day schedule were from Bacolod and other areas in Negros Occidental.

On the first day, 149 registered and took the test while on the second day, there were 71 examinees.

Wayagwag said this year’s number of examinees was lower compared to last year, considering the limitations and restrictions brought about by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The PMAEE, which is the first stage in the selection process for cadetship in the country’s top military training school, requires aspirants to be senior high school graduates, who are 17 years old but not more than 22 years old on April 1 of the year of admission, with a minimum height of five feet for both male and female.

The PMA, which is based in Baguio City, grants a cadet full scholarship with monthly salary and allowances to earn a Bachelor of Science degree.

Upon graduation, they are commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant and Ensign in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. (PNA)
