3. Breech Asher Harani

Multimedia Artist Breech Asher Harani is one of the featured honorees in the Arts Category.

In 2012, Harani founded Alexandrite Pictures studio and produced multimedia works for advocacy, commercial, and on a commission basis. This proud Mindanaoan focused his creative efforts in telling stories that raise awareness on social issues such as diversity, migration, environment, and culture.

A multi-awarded artist, Harani has received invaluable recognition throughout the years. In 2014, he received the Dorothy Slipper Award for Best Short Film in Serbia and the Best Short Film Award at the Springfield LGBT Film Festival in Massachusetts for his short experimental film “Through the Mirror”. Aside from that, he was also granted with the International Jury Award at the Plural+ Youth Video Festival in New York City, the United Nations Television Award and the CHINH India Award for his short animated film “Blue”, the year after.

On top of that, his short film “Next to Me” was awarded top honors in its category at the 2019 International Emmys held in New York City. Based on true events, the short film is about the experiences of a displaced Muslim student survivor in the 2017 Marawi siege.
