This Tokyo Olympics contender took the spot on the coveted list. Margielyn Didal, an Asian Games and SEA Games gold medalist, who put Philippines on the global map when it comes to Skateboarding.
From skating in the streets of Cebu to the grand stage of the Asian Games, Didal clinched the gold medal for the Philippines despite suffering from an injury in 2018.
Didal executed another flawless performance a year later when she scored a gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games. The skate wunderkind is set to represent the Philippines at the Tokyo Olympics in July 2021, where skateboarding has been included for the first time.
The Cebuana skateboarder was bestowed with the 2020 Athlete of the Year award by the Philippine Sportswriters Association and took home the bronze medal at the first-ever Women’s Open at the annual Tampa Pro competition in Florida.
Didal was also recognized as among the “25 Most Influential Teens” by TIME.
