This homegrown fiesta is usually celebrated on the 22nd of every January to coincide with the anniversary of Vigan’s cityhood declaration on the January 22, 2001. And every year is a showcase of dance competitions from three school levels, colorful costumes, lively music, lavish parades and of course, the specialty in Vigan’s very own longganisa.

Rejoicing over the rich history of one of their most popular specialties for nearly a decade, the city of Vigan drew thousands of local and international visitors to join the city’s annual celebrations. With a wide array of restaurants, chefs and other enthusiasts displaying their own recipes for Vigan’s own sausage in cook-fests and street fairs, the festival aims to recognize the uniqueness of the longganisa and market them more broadly and safely.
