In the face of adversity, heroes come from ordinary people who choose to stand up for reasons bigger than their own. While our overseas Filipinos have always been regarded as such, the pandemic further etched their contribution not only to their families back home but also to their communities whilst abroad.

This brand of selflessness motivates TFC Asia Pacific to remain in the service of the Filipino community in the region through information, entertainment, and inspiration. Through its various public service efforts, it has also contributed to assisting Filipinos affected by the global health and economic crisis both in the region and in the Philippines.

It is in these turbulent times when the bayanihan spirit (Filipino unity and cooperation) is very much alive. At the height of the widespread quarantine, many Filipinos took it upon themselves to help countrymen who were displaced due to business closures. These donation drives provided support to displaced overseas Filipinos in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Thailand by giving them food packs, grocery items, and relief goods. There are more than 1,600 overseas Filipinos served as well when TFC Asia Pacific pledged USD 9,500 worth of financial support to said initiatives by at least 20 of its partner organizations and businesses in the region namely:

TFC Asia Pacific is also part of TFC’s “Kapamilya Virtual Hugs” global campaign, which advocates the mental health of the overseas Filipinos and the front liners. Answering the need to be engaged at this time when physical togetherness is restricted, TFC Asia Pacific’s current affairs show Newscolored evolved into a weekly online reunion among TFC subscribers and Filipino community organizations. There are also occasional celebrity guests who join in the festivities such as Asia’s Songbird, Lani Misalucha, and international singing sensation, Brian McKnight Jr.

Partnership within the region has become TFC Asia Pacific’s gateway in expanding public service efforts to benefit Filipinos in the region and the Philippines. Through its partnership with MCOM, Pinays in Japan, and Japino.net, TFC provides motivational and inspirational content featuring the Kapamilya artists to over 100,000 Filipinos in Japan.

Various organizations in the region have also helped further the cause of ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc.’s “Pantawid ng Pag-ibig” project, which beneficiaries are the urban poor in the Philippines whose livelihood was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

TFC Asia Pacific’s partner Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Japan pledged Y100,000 (USD 930) to “Patawid ng Pag-ibig.” While its bank partners Banco De Oro in Hong Kong and Philippine National Bank in Singapore waived its charges for donations made for “Pantawid ng Pag-ibig.”

TFC recognizes that there is more work to do to answer to the challenges our overseas Filipinos face in these unprecedented times. Thus, it remains committed to being of service to our Filipino heroes wherever they may be in the world.
