The Philippine Air Force (PAF) on Tuesday deployed C-295 medium transport aircraft to ferry wheelchairs and relief goods to areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.

PAF spokesperson, Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo, said 100 wheelchairs were flown to Roxas City in Capiz province with the help of the Philippine Air Force Civil Military Operations Group (PAFCMOG) and Office of the Assistant Chief of Air Staff for Civil-Military Operations, A-7, in partnership with Far Eastern University.

“(These wheelchairs were flown) as part of the 3rd batch of Brigada Eskwela using C-295 medium-lift aircraft, on January 17, 2023,” Castillo said in a statement.

These wheelchairs will be distributed to different schools in Roxas, City which will be utilized by their school clinics in case of emergencies.

Likewise, another C-295 medium-lift aircraft operated by the 220th Airlift Wing in coordination with PAFCMOG transported 500 boxes of relief goods from the Office of the Vice President to Tandag town, Surigao del Sur province, which has been affected by floods due to bad weather.

“This is a continuous effort of the PAF, to engage government and private partners in facilitating programs that respond to the needs of the community and the nation,” Castillo noted. (PNA)
