The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Bicol on Monday sent some 5,000 emergency family food packs for the victims of Taal Volcano eruption in Batangas, a DSWD regional official said Tuesday.

Arnel B. Garcia, DSWD-Bicol regional director, in an interview, said the relief goods on board five container trucks left around 4:30 p.m. Monday bound for the Batangas Sports Complex.

Garcia said once the cargo arrives at the destination, it will be turned over to DSWD offices of the towns affected by the eruption.

Each family pack contains six kilos of rice, six sachets of coffee, four cans of sardines and four cans of corned beef.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health-Bicol sent N95 masks and medicines to the victims.

Also, the Department of Public Works and Highways in the region donated generators and water to the residents affected by the volcano’s eruption. (PNA)
