Members of the Balagon Alsa-Masa Service Provider Association (BAMSPA) recently received a Science and Technology grant worth 1.4M for the acquisition of a Rice and Corn Mill equipment.

Awarded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through its Grants-In-Aid (GIA) program, funding will be used to acquire the necessary technologies for milling operations to support a Science and Technology-based livelihood within their community, and will also handle costs involving project monitoring, training, and other support services.

In line with Executive Order 70 and the efforts of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC), the technology grant is aimed at alleviating the financial burdens of postharvest processes for the Balagon Alsa-Masa Service Provider Association (BAMSPA) and to discourage potential poverty-aggravated conflict in their area of Barangay Balagon in the Municipality of Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay.
