The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has so far received over one million applications for registrations and updating of voter records.

As of Jan. 7, a total of 1,050,793 applications have been received since the registration period resumed on Sept. 1, 2020, according to the poll body.

The Comelec is expecting some four million new registrants for the May 2022 national and local elections and some one million Filipino voters are expected to file their applications for reactivation.

The nationwide voter registration is conducted Mondays to Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Aside from applications of new registrants, all Offices of Elections Officers are also accepting applications for the transfer and reactivation of voter records and the change of name or correction of entries on record.

The Comelec offices also accept requests to include a person’s record in the book of voters and the reinstatement of a person’s name in the voter’s list.

The registration period will run until September 30, 2021. (PNA)
