A bikers’ den at the mountainous Barangay Inmalog Sur will be inaugurated to cater to biking enthusiasts in Pangasinan on Oct.12.

“The bikers’ den has restrooms and shower area for the bikers, while there are also bike rails where the cyclists can place their bikes while resting. Constructed at a strategic place, it has a vantage view of the Lingayen Gulf, tree-covered mountains and there are also play farms that can be seen along the way,” Pangasinan fourth district representative Christopher de Venecia said in an interview.

He said the uphill climb to Barangay Inmalog Sur has long been discovered by groups of bikers from Pangasinan and other provinces.

During weekends, the place is flocked by bikers bringing in brisk business for the sari-sari (convenience) stores at the stop-over area in the mid-part of the hill.

De Venecia said he pushed for the promotion of the Inmalog Trail and the construction of the den to encourage the youth to indulge in sports, appreciate nature, promote tourism areas in San Fabian, and the fourth district as a whole.

De Venecia said the bikers’ den will be managed by the Pangasinan 4th District Cycling Club Inc. (P4CCI) headed by Nicolas Gonzales.

“The P4CCI is composed of groups of bikers who had grouped themselves into one big organization bent on protecting not only the newly constructed den but also the pristine environment as both sides of the zigzaggy barangay road is full of trees,” he said.

Before the formal opening of the bikers’ den, a cycling race dubbed as 1st De Venecia Challenger’s Cup will kick-start at 4 a.m.

Pangasinan is also known for producing champions in national and international cycling competitions.

Meanwhile, still part of his sports and tourism advocacy, De Venecia will lead the Awitakbuhan at the Boardwalk at Tondaligan Beach in Dagupan City on October 11.

All fun run participants will be given glow-in-the-dark sticks and t-shirts. A singing contest will be held after the fun run. (PNA)
