The municipal government here has procured a mobile clinic and two multi-purpose vehicles to enhance the delivery of health and other vital services to the residents.

Town Mayor Rhett Ronan T. Angara led the blessing of the vehicles officiated by San Luis Obispo parish priest Froilan Rivera at the grounds of the municipal hall after the traditional flag ceremony on Monday.

“Pangako noon na tinupad ngayon sa tulong ng Sangguniang Bayan sa pangunguna ni Vice Mayor Bobong Ong at sa buong kawani ng LGU (local government unit)-Baler. Umasa po kayo na mag-iikot ang mobile clinic sa 13 barangays para makapagbigay ng libreng medical assistance sa ating mga kababayan (It was a promise before that was fulfilled today with the help of the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Bobong Ong and the entire staff of the LGU-Baler. The mobile clinic will roam around the 13 barangays to provide free medical assistance to our townmates),” Angara said.

The mayor said the mobile clinic will be detailed in the rural health unit office while the two multi-purpose vehicles will be at the Municipal Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The mobile clinic, which is worth some PHP7.5 million, has an X-ray machine and generator, medical X-ray processor, X-ray examination room, three channels of digital electronic cardio graph (ECG), full digital 3D-4D ultrasound, emergency lights, fire extinguisher, and air conditioning system.

On the other hand, the two multi-purpose vehicles have a total worth of PHP2.8 million.

Personnel of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) provincial office also witnessed the blessing of the two brand new multi-purpose vehicles funded through last year’s Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) and with counterpart from the Baler LGU.

This municipality received a PCF amounting to PHP2.3 million for fiscal year 2019.

PCF is a cash grant to LGUs that are awarded with the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).

The SGLG, also known as “Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kahusayan ng Pamahalaang Lokal”, is being awarded by the DILG every year to deserving provinces, cities and municipalities that perform well in various fields. (PNA)
