A town in Agusan del Norte now allows motorcycle back riding after its mayor issued an executive order.

Magallanes Mayor Cesar C. Cumba Jr. issued EO23-2020 that allows back riding in motorcycles within the municipality.

“The municipality of Magallanes is now under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), relaxing some prohibition(s), such as but not limited to back riding in motorcycles,” Cumba said his directive.

The order cited Interior Secretary Eduardo M. Año’s recent announcement allowing back riding in motorcycles among couples.

Cumba’s directive said couples must present identification cards (IDs) indicating similar surnames and addresses.

Likewise, those who are not married but living together must present IDs indicating that they reside in the same address.

Motorcycle drivers and back riders must strictly follow health protocols, such as wearing face masks and helmets, according to the mayor’s order.

The directive also acknowledged the Philippine National Police’s authority to conduct inspections in checkpoints.

Magallanes is a fourth-class municipality with a total population of 21,007, based on the 2015 census. (PNA)
