Active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases have dipped to 231 from Oct. 2 – 8, the Department of Health-Caraga Region (DOH-13) said Wednesday.

In its weekly report, the DOH-13 noted that the latest figure on the active cases is lower than the 339 recorded from Sept. 25 – Oct.1.

This came about as new Covid-19 cases were also reported last week.

“A total of 105 new Covid-19 infections were recorded in the region last week that brought the total cumulative number of cases in the region to 61,590,” the DOH-13 said.

Of the new cases, 41 were logged in Agusan del Sur province, 15 in Surigao del Sur, three in Surigao del Norte, and one each in Agusan del Norte and the Province of Dinagat Islands.

Among the cities, 22 new cases were also recorded in Butuan; followed by Bayugan with 10; Bislig, seven; Surigao, three; and Tandag, two.

DOH-13 also reported 225 new recoveries last week, bringing the total Covid-19 recoveries in the region to 59,062.

The death toll from the disease now stands at 2,297 as four patients died during the period. (PNA)
