A total of 546 individuals were apprehended by the city government here for loitering and not wearing face mask in public.

This came on the heels of the intensified campaign of City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. under Ordinance No. 546 on the stricter implementation of health and safety protocols to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The measure penalizes individuals not wearing face masks, not bringing quarantine passes, and loitering outside of their homes. The fine for first time violators is PHP1,000 and higher for repeat offenders.

“Ito po ang mga hakbang na ginagawa natin upang pagtibayin ang pagpapatupad ng Ordinance No. 546, particular ang mga regulasyon upang mapanatiling ligtas ang kalusugan ng bawat Angeleño (These are the steps we are taking to ensure the implementation of Ordinance No. 546, particularly the regulations to ensure the health of every Angeleño),” Lazatin said.

The mayor also ordered the conduct of a massive information drive to remind Angeleños of the city’s regulations and protocols against Covid-19.

“Ito ay upang mas lalong mapalawak pa ang kaalaman ng mga Angeleños at para maprotektahan nila ang kanilang mga sarili mula sa Covid-19 (This is to enhance the knowledge of the Angeleños so that they could protect themselves from Covid-19),” he said.

Lazatin also warned residents of the consequences of violating the government’s health protocols in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in this city.

As of Saturday, there is a total of 105 Covid-19 patients in the city of which 56 are active cases, 43 have recovered and six died. (PNA)
