Vice President Leni Robredo spoke about people empowerment, active citizenship, and the importance of crafting meaningful programs for the women sector, when she met the participants of the Angat Bayi Candon Young Women’s Fellowship (ABCYWF) Program at the Quezon City Reception House on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019.

VP Leni was invited to be among the resource speakers for Module 2 of the program, which focuses on “Feminist Organizing and Inclusive Strategies”, and shared her experience as a lawyer for abused women and children, as well as the model set by her home city of Naga in opening the doors of the local government to better people participation.

ABCYWF aims to encourage young women to be politically active and develop their skills and capacity on feminist leadership.

It is organized by the UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies and the UPCWGS Foundation, Inc., with support from the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives of the Embassy of Canada in Manila, the International Republican Institute, and the Office of VP Leni under its Angat Buhay program. (OVP)
