Ever dreamt of an airline exclusively for dogs? Well, it’s now a reality! Introducing BARK Air, the world’s first airline where dogs are treated as VIPs. Launched in April, the dog toy company BARK is in partnership with a jet charter service, promising a premium travel experience for dogs of all sizes along with their human companions.

BARK Air aims to make the “white paw experience” a reality, proudly describing itself as “the world’s first air travel experience designed specifically for dogs first, and their human companions second.”

“BARK Air has taken the white glove experience typical of a human’s first-class journey and redirected all that pampering to pooches – from booking to arrival, to in-flight services and disembarkation, dogs will truly be the VIPs and treated to a positively luxurious, curated experience,” wrote on its website.

Matt Meeker, co-founder and CEO of BARK, has been working on this innovative idea for over 10 years, inspired by his late Great Dane, Hugo. Traveling with Hugo was challenging due to his size, often requiring him to fly uncomfortably in the cargo hold. To address the discomfort dogs face in cargo, Meeker himself flew from Florida to New York in a cargo crate as part of BARK Air’s promotional campaign.

The maiden flight of BARK Air recently took off from New York to Los Angeles, and a post on Instagram captured the excitement: “Right now, at an altitude of 30,000 feet, there is a flight filled with dogs.”

With many airlines tightening restrictions on emotional support animals, the launch of BARK Air comes as a breath of fresh air for many pet owners. However, this luxurious experience does come at a premium. A flight between New York and Los Angeles costs USD6,000 (approximately PHP 337,000) for one dog and one human (or one human and two dogs collectively under 50 pounds) each way. One-way flights between New York and London are priced at USD8,000 (approximately PHP 450,000).
