As our nation enters a new decade, Filipinos get a rare peek into the lives of four exceptional artists whose passion for their craft has helped keep local traditions and industries alive.

In the special edition of “Local Legends” this Sunday (January 19) on ABS-CBN, glass sculptor Ramon Orlina, potter Ugu Bigyan, solar artist Jordan Mang-osan, and soil painter Waway Saway will share their stories of inspiration as they worked their way into exceling in their respective arts.

Though coming from different backgrounds, the four share a strong love for our country, its people, and the arts that helped them become the masters they are today.

Ramon, considered as the “Father of Philippine Glass Sculpture,” discovered his raw material after a setback during Martial Law. Jordan, an Igorot, decided to focus on solar drawing as it did not require expensive materials. Ugu pursued a corporate position in Manila before realizing his destiny is back in his hometown in Quezon, where he is also known for his culinary skills. Meanwhile, aside from pursuing different forms of indigenous art, Waway found different ways to help his community in Bukidnon.

Ramon, Ugu, Jordan, and Waway were all featured in the third season of “Local Legends,” an award-winning documentary series produced by ABS-CBN DocuCentral. Through showcasing Filipino workmanship, “Local Legends” aims to promote respect for culture and tradition, and encourage artisans to pass on their skills and knowledge to future generations.

The series has won local and international awards including three Dolphin awards at the prestigious Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards and Silver and Bronze World medals at the New York Festivals World’s Best TV & Film Awards.

Watch the best of “Local Legends Season 3” on Sunday’s Best this January 19 after “GGV” on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD.
