A Filipino dog owner and his pet made a name for themselves at a dog show in Geneva after claiming the “world winner” title for the first time in Philippine history.

On August 24, Filipino and the owner of a local Corgi association, Wency Villanueva, happily announced the winning moment of his dog, Dalbong, at the recently held World Dog Show Geneva 2023.

During the event, more than a hundred Corgis competed, and out of all these numbers, Dalbong was among the announced finalists. Other than this, Villanueva’s Corgi also won the World Winner title.

“In addition, I am delighted to announce that Dalbong has obtained his World Winner title along with becoming the Swiss Champion. I am immensely proud of you, my son, Dalbong!” Villanueva said.

With the said world champion achievement, the Pinoy exhibitor expressed his gratitude for the support of Filipinos during the competition, dedicating this win to the country and other pet owners.

“This win is not just for us, but for all my fellow exhibitors who dream of becoming world champions one day. Never lose faith in yourself and always believe in your dog. If you think your dog has what it takes, keep pushing forward! Never give up and love your passion until you achieve success,” Villanueva said.

Aside from the “World Winner” title, Dalbong also won the “Best of Breed” award, surpassing over 130 Corgis in the competition.

“Among the finalists, only one would be taking home the BOB award, and DALBONG was the fortunate one. The joy was overwhelming, and I couldn’t find words to express my emotions. It was truly an unforgettable experience!” Villanueva said.

The World Dog Show 2023 in Geneve was conducted from August 24 to 27, catering to all exhibitors, breeders, and handlers around the world to showcase their pets’ skills and talents among other dogs.
