Alyx Ayn Arumpac’s eminent documentary film ‘Aswang’ has been highly recognized at the 44th Gawad Urian awards ceremony on Thursday, October 21, bagging Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Documentary.

In a Facebook post, the Aswang team thanked the organization for giving them such an award and honor.

Released in November 2019, Aswang is a documentary film that scores the first two years of the campaign against drugs under President Duterte’s regime.

It unveils the real-life story of extra-judicial killing victims who suffered from the hands of a gruesome and failed justice system that favors only those in the position.

The Aswang team shared that the documentary film was a tribute to all the victims who were killed and abused by the harsh and bloody drug campaign.

They concluded their statement by reminding the public to carefully and meticulously choose the right leader who will truly protect our rights as a human, “Sa susunod na taon, huwag sana nating sayangin ang ating mga boto sa mga kakandidatong lumabag ng mga karapatang pantao kung hindi man, sumuporta at kumonsinte sa pag-abuso nito.”

Moreover, they also heed the public that there is only a week left until the end of voter registration for the 2022 elections.

Aswang will be available to stream on KTX.ph, Upstream PH, and Ticket 2 Me starting Friday, October 22.
