Iconic Darna Angel Locsin continues to live up to her name as in Forbes includes her in the ‘Asia’s Heroes of Philanthropy: Catalysts of Change’ list.

According to the issue published on December 2, Forbes “honors billionaires, entrepreneurs, and celebrities across the region who are committed to solving some of the most pressing issues facing the Asia-Pacific.”

In September 2019, the actress became the talk of the town after she announced that she skipped the ABS-CBN Ball to directly donate to Bantay Bata, the beneficiary of the year.

A month later, she donated over P1 million for the victims of the consecutive earthquakes in Mindanao then went to the place itself to personally distribute “truckloads of relief supplies to affected residents” to the survivors.

The publication also mentioned that she joined the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines in 2017, when the military and Islamist rebels in Marawi were fighting against each other. She spent her time there “donating and distributing food packets and school supplies to tens of thousands of displaced victims”.

“Over the past decade, Locsin has donated as much as P15 million to causes such as educational scholarships for students, supporting the economic and political rights of indigenous people, and ending violence against women and children,” Forbes stated.

“It’s like taking little steps towards substantive, holistic change for the future of the next generations,” the magazine quotes Angel, “The only motivation we need is being part of humanity.”
