At least 532 families or 1,789 persons in flood and landslide-prone areas in Albay and Camarines Sur are now being evacuated as Tropical Storm Quinta is expected to hit Bicol Sunday night, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said.

OCD spokesperson Gremil Alexis Naz said the ongoing preemptive evacuation procedure involves moving out to safer grounds 521 families or 1,747 persons in Guinobatan town in Albay, and 11 families or 42 persons in Canaman, Camarines Sur.

As of 4 a.m. Sunday, 662 travelers, 283 trucks, and 13 cars were stranded in various ports in Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Camarines Sur, while 25 sea vessels took shelter in these ports following the suspension of sea travel due to Quinta.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Bicol has pre-positioned 15,000 family food packs worth PHP5.3 million for storm-affected local government units in Bicol.

It has also prepared PHP26 million worth of non-food items and PHP3 million in standby funds for response operations. (PNA)
