College student filmmakers who are hungry for the chance to showcase their storytelling and visual skills to a wider audience can now submit their works to “Class Project: Intercollegiate Mini-Documentary Competition.”

Now on its third year, “Class Project” is a partnership of ABS-CBN with Knowledge Channel & the Philippine Association for Communication Educators (PACE). It aims to encourage students to produce documentaries depicting the lives of Filipinos, and give them exposure through various ABS-CBN platforms. The students behind the top three entries will also take home cash prizes of up to P30,000 and trophies.

Eligible college students from PACE-member schools can submit relevant mini-documentaries that feature Knowledge Channel’s values of social justice, passion to serve, commitment to holistic learning, integrity, and nationalism. Total running time should be around 12 to 15 minutes. Deadline of entries is on November 29, 2019.

Last year’s top three documentaries have aired on Knowledge Channel, ANC, and soon on ABS-CBN. The top prize went to students of the University of the Philippines-Diliman for “Pasan,” which follows a devout Catholic and gay man who portrays Jesus Christ during Lent. Second place was nabbed by Lyceum of the Philippines University-Laguna for “Silang Walang Daan” that looks into the struggles of residents in a remote town who endure rough travel along muddy roads just to get to city proper, while Far Eastern University’s “Labay Ku,” which puts the spotlight on the Aeta community in Tarlac that will be affected by the government’s Build, Build, Build program, clinched third place. All three documentaries, and seven other finalists, are also available on iWant.

Winners for this year’s competition cycle will be awarded during the “Pinoy Media Congress Year 14” in 2020, which is also a joint project of ABS-CBN and PACE.
