The province of Antique has allotted PHP1 million as financial aid to quake victims in North Cotabato.

The Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) approved the allocation during its meeting Monday to be taken from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PDRRM) fund.

Antique PDRRM Officer Broderick Train, in an interview after the PDRRM council meeting, said North Cotabato’s Makilala town suffered from a 5.6 magnitude earthquake last July 9 and another 6.3 tremor on October 16.

“Although the earthquake was also felt in other parts of Mindanao but North Cotabato was the hardest hit province,” Train said.

The resolution will be forwarded to the provincial board for approval on their regular session on November 14.

Once approved, the provincial government of North Cotabato could already receive the donation.

Train said the earthquake has affected the livelihood of the residents that is why the PDRRMC is sending its support to North Cotabato.

He added that many Antiqueños are now residing in North Cotabato.
