Despite the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) scare, AirAsia said it will push through with its inaugural flights to this city from two destinations, Cebu and Clark.

AirAsia Chief Executive Officer Ricardo Isla said the Cebu-Zamboanga and vice-versa maiden flight will be on March 29 at 12:30 p.m.

Isla said that the Clark-Zamboanga and vice-versa maiden flight will also be at 3 p.m. on the same day.

“Taki ya came (We are here),” Isla said during the press conference Monday at the City Hall, adding their carriers will fly “very soon” to help boost the city’s tourism.

He said an additional flight between Manila and Zamboanga will soon be opened.

“Our Cebu to Zamboanga flight will only cost around P400 to P500 and Clark to Zamboanga is only around P800 to P1,000. It’s easier to fly to Clark because it is light and not congested,” he said.

He said the entry of the company in this city will also cater to passengers from the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi. (PNA)
