Dyson announced on Thursday, November 26 that the Philippines has chosen to become part of their GBP2.75 Billion (PHP 117 Billion) budget to build future technologies in the country.
As Technology Enterprise Dyson continues to uplift their inventions from the science of air to the science of light, they shared their new investment to open a new Software Lab and Research and Development (R&D Center in Alabang, Muntinlupa city that will hire 400 highly-skilled software and development engineers in the Philippines over the next 3 years.
By 2025, Dyson will enter a new field to accelerate their research and development into robotics, software, AI, and machine learning.
As the Philippines being part of Dyson’s success, the company said to continue to support the Filipino economy. “As we promote Filipino-driven industrialization, we look forward to Dyson recruiting more Filipino engineers to be a part of Dyson’s software innovations.” the Director-General of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), Charito B. Plaza said.
Dyson’s first center in Calamba, Laguna was established in 2016 is known to be the production place of Dyson Hyperdymium™ motors, one of the fastest, lightest motors in the world and sits to be the heart of all the Dyson cord-free vacuum cleaners and personal care technologies. The site in Laguna has started with just 10 people in the team and now has 600 people that help the production of over 13 million Dyson Hyperdymium™ motors a year.
With so many skilled Filipino engineers, Dyson’s Chief Operating Officer, Scott Maguire said, “The Philippines is home to bright, young engineers who share Dyson’s ambition to develop technologies for the future. Dyson has been growing in the Philippines for this reason and it is a nation that clearly celebrates both engineers and technology.”

The software lab in the Philippines will form part of Dyson’s global Research, Design, and Development team, which spans, USA, UK, Shanghai, Singapore, and Malaysia. Roles in the software lab will include Embedded Software Engineers, Automation Test Engineers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Program Managers, Release Train Engineers, and Team Leaders.
These engineers will have experience with a range of software coding languages, including real-time embedded ‘C’. They will also have good knowledge of microcontrollers and System on a Chip (SoC) processors, and be familiar with embedded development tools.
