A 14-day self-care “quarantime” journal containing day-to-day recommended activities while inside quarantine facilities was launched on Wednesday in the region by the Department of Health-Western Visayas (DOH-6) Center for Health Development.

“This journal is an initiative of the DOH Western Visayas Center for Health Development Code Team Reintegration which aims to promote good mental health support and resilience to our affected countrymen,” said Dr. Marlyn W. Convocar, regional director of DOH-6 during the launch.

Convocar said that reintegration is the last part of the Code Team initiative. It starts with prevention, detection, isolation, test and treatment.

“For me, reintegration is the core of mainstreaming all those who are in quarantine facilities or wherever you are. Quarantine days should not be boring. It should be enriching and very productive by doing this,” she said.

The journal, she said, will physically and mentally prepare them when they go back to their respective homes.

Among the components of the journal are Bible and Quran verses, inspirational quotes, exercises, games, playlists, movie and book recommendations, and questions of the day.

“If you want to relieve your stress and anxiety, go back to being a child again, play a game or get physical. You could do zumba exercises. These exercises start from the slow exercise to the faster ones. It is very important that we stay active during this ‘quarantime’ and regular exercise is very good both for the physical and mental health,” said Dr. May Ann Soliva-Sta. Lucia, head of the DOH-CHD 6 Code Team Reintegration Task Force.

A soft copy of the journal will be posted online daily at the DOH-CHD 6 Facebook Page while hard copies will be printed by local government units to be distributed upon arrival of individuals to be quarantined in the facility. (PNA)
