In today’s time, it is very rare to find a TV show that caters to diversity and inclusion that would strengthen and develop our own perception regarding these sensitive matters. This is the very reason why it is of utmost importance for us to appreciate the beauty of representation. As our culture continues to move into a more diverse and accepting environment, the need for representation in all aspects becomes critical in television. Watching well-represented shows not only enhances our sensitivity when discussions about these topics arise but our intellect too.

That being said, here are our top 10 picks that could get you diving in the pool of great diversity:

1. Sense8

Netflix has a reputation attached to its name with the different original series in its streaming service and Sense8 is not an exception to it.

Written and directed by The Wachowskis, who brought The Matrix Trilogy, Sense8 revolves around the story of 8 individuals from different cultures and parts of the world who suddenly begin to have a psychic connection with each other. But the threat begins to unfold when a man who calls himself ‘Whispers’ discover them.

What to expect in the series:  a transgender character played by a transgender actress, Asian characters played by actual Asian actors and actresses, not to mention the culture presented in each episode that’s been shot in the actual country of the character.
