Feeling not quite a child yet not quite an adult; A Kidult, if you will.

Being in your early twenties can sometimes feel like you’re standing on a tightrope, one wrong move and you will fall into the vast unknown. It is a time for immense change, self-discovery, and uncertainty; it’s as if you stood up too quickly and now you keep having to blink the dark spots in your eyes.

Questions like “What am I supposed to be doing?”, “Am I getting left behind?”, and most commonly, “What do I do now?” keep popping up in your head constantly, especially when you see your peers getting jobs, launching businesses, or even traveling the world. Fortunately, you are not alone in this feeling of uncertainty, being lost and confused in your early adulthood is what the kids nowadays call a “canon event”, it is something you are supposed to experience and grow from as you make the decisions that can shape your life in the near future.

During student life, there’s a routine you become accustomed to: arrive by 7, lunch at 12, snack at 2, and head home by 5—wash, rinse, and repeat. While college may offer more flexibility, having a consistent schedule still helps students maintain discipline. Post-graduation, however, can be a shock. Without a set routine, it’s not uncommon for some to struggle, especially during the transition period between searching for a job and actually being hired.

Failure holds a lot of weight in your 20s—whether it’s missed opportunities, a job rejection, or realizing—with mortification—that the path you are taking is no longer fulfilling. You may feel like you’re running out of time or not living up to expectations, and sometimes, the fear of not being good enough can start creeping in.

In the grand scheme of life, your early 20s is just the beginning; You don’t have to have everything figured out, you are allowed to make mistakes, and enjoy the last moments of your youth before stepping up to be an adult.
