The intensified international campaign of the Department of Tourism (DOT) is seen to draw more positive impacts in the tourism industry in the Caraga Region.

This came as the DOT-13 (Caraga) welcomed the installation of two billboards at the Bart and Muni Light Railway Train Stations in San Francisco, California, USA earlier this week.

“We take pride in showcasing one of the best island destinations in Asia, Siargao Island, to the rest of the world,” DOT-13 Regional Director Ivonnie Dumadag said in an interview on Thursday.

“This is part of the DOT’s campaign to boost international tourism through the ‘Love The Philippines’ campaign,” Dumadag added.

The billboards also featured surfing, the premier international sports event held on Siargao Island yearly.

Dumadag said the extensive promotion would provide international visitors with an opportunity to explore and learn more about Siargao Island, as well as other destinations in the Caraga Region and throughout the country.

Dumadag expressed optimism that the numbers would significantly increase this year. (PNA)
