To mark its milestone of crossing 50 dialysis clinics in the Philippines, NephroPlus Philippines brought its commitment to healthcare beyond the walls of its clinics through a kidney health medical mission for the Mangyan Indigenous Community in Sitio Lagonglong, Barangay Water, Baco, Oriental Mindoro.
The Mangyan are the Indigenous peoples of Mindoro, comprising distinct ethnolinguistic groups with their own cultures, languages, and traditions.
In partnership with the Municipal Government of Baco, around 265 members of the community participated in the NephroPlus Philippines Kidney Health Medical Mission, where they received practical information on kidney disease prevention, access to basic health screening, and individual health counseling.

The educational sessions focused on kidney health, common risk factors for kidney disease, the importance of early detection, available treatment options, and practical ways to promote overall well-being through proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle practices.
NephroPlus Philippines’ nephrologist spoke about kidney health, prevention, and early awareness, while the team’s dietitians provided practical guidance on nutrition and everyday food choices that can support better kidney health.
As part of the initiative, the medical team also provided free health screenings, including blood pressure measurement, blood sugar testing, and creatinine testing to help assess kidney function and identify potential kidney health concerns. Participants received individual counseling, with those requiring further medical evaluation referred for appropriate follow-up care.

Beyond the health activities, the team distributed groceries, shared a meal with members of the community, and spent time engaging with them, making the initiative not only about health education but also about building stronger connections with the communities NephroPlus serves.
For NephroPlus Philippines, kidney health advocacy is an important complement to its work in providing dialysis care. Raising awareness about kidney disease and promoting early detection can help people protect their kidney health and seek medical care when needed.
“Crossing 50 clinics is an important milestone for NephroPlus Philippines, but growth in healthcare should not only be measured by the number of clinics we open. It should also be reflected in the impact we create in the communities we serve. Through initiatives like this, we hope to bring kidney health awareness closer to communities while continuing to expand access to quality dialysis care across the Philippines,” said Gowtham Arumugam, Country Head of NephroPlus Philippines.
The medical mission also underscores the importance of collaboration between the private sector and local government in bringing health education and essential healthcare services closer to communities.

“We are grateful to NephroPlus Philippines for partnering with the Municipal Government of Baco to bring this important health initiative to our community,” said Hon. Allan Roldan, Mayor of Baco. “Gaya ng itinuro ng medical team, napakahalagang may sapat tayong kaalaman tungkol sa mga sakit tulad ng kidney disease at kung paano ito maiiwasan. Umaasa kami na magpapatuloy ang ganitong mga partnerships sa Pilipinas para lalong mailapit ang mahahalagang healthcare services sa ating mga kababayan.”
Advancing Broader Kidney Health Advocacy
NephroPlus Philippines is the local arm of Asia’s largest dialysis network, NephroPlus. Today, with 53 clinics nationwide, it continues to expand its footprint to serve more Filipinos with high-quality, patient-centered dialysis care that supports longer and fuller lives. This is supported by standardized clinical practices, digital innovation, and continuous training and workforce development aligned with Philippine and international standards of care.
Beyond providing dialysis care, NephroPlus Philippines recognizes that broader kidney health advocacy must also include awareness, prevention, and early detection. Through initiatives such as the kidney health medical mission in Sitio Lagonglong, the company aims to help individuals and communities better understand kidney health, promote overall well-being, and seek appropriate care when needed.
