Filipina cyclist Alexandra Lexi Dormitorio represented the Philippines and won gold in the women’s junior cross-country at the 2025 UCI Thailand Mountain Bike Cup, held from Jan. 14 to 15 in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.

The 17-year-old athlete finished the race in 50 minutes and 51.914 seconds, leaving enough of a gap for Thai cyclist Pinpak Chiengsuan to take second place, clocking in at 59:38.765.

“Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! This gold medal win is for you!” Dormitorio wrote in her social media post.

Dormitorio is following the tracks of her older sister, Ariana Evangelista, who won gold in the women’s olympic cross country under-23 category at the 2018 Asian Continental Championships and swept two medals at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games.

“When you have a huge number of people all over the world praying or visualizing for you to win then there is really no way it will not manifest, especially if you surrender to God whatever the outcome will be,” Dormitorio added, extending her gratitude to her fans.

Dormitorio’s monumental win is just one of the historic moments at the MTB tournament where Adrian Nacario bagged the silver medal in the men’s u-23 cross-country and Thirdy Mana-ay took home the silver in the men’s junior cross-country.

At the same time, John Andre Aguja clinched the bronze in the men’s u-23 cross country while Justine Anastacio placed fifth.
