Up-and-coming Kapamilya artist Dani Zam navigates overthinking and questioning the depth of one’s feelings in her groovy R&B single “Hilo” to be released under Tarsier Records this Friday (Nov. 24).

“I wanted to write something that had a nostalgic element but still had a narrative that any person, no matter what generation they’re from, could have experienced at any point in their lives,” said the Tarsier Records artist.

The song also has a hint of Neo-soul and pop sound and features a relatable narrative about being so wrapped up in someone and wanting him so badly to be as into you as you are into him.

“I think it’s a simple love song on the surface – catchy hook and relatable story – but there’s definitely some depth there too, like in the harmonies and the bass riffs. It was important to me to have both of those elements,” she added.

“Hilo” is a follow up to her first release under Tarsier Records called “Beso,” which has over 271,000 streams on Spotify alone and has been featured in multiple editorial playlists such as OPM Rising, Chillax Ka Muna, New Music Friday, OPM Says Chillax.

Dani, who got featured as the cover of Spotify’s Fresh Finds Philippines, grew up in a musical family. Her dad plays the saxophone, her mom was a professional singer, and her brother is a DJ. She and her siblings also grew up dancing hip-hop competitively. In 2021, she released her debut called “EDEN.”

“Hilo” will be available on digital streaming platforms beginning Friday (Nov. 24). For details, follow Tarsier Records on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
