The Provincial Government of Davao de Oro reported Tuesday that 166 farmers in Maco town received farm inputs and high-value crop seedlings on May 18.

In a statement Tuesday, Anecito Torrejos, chief of staff of the governor’s office, said the provincial government is prioritizing agriculture this Farmers and Fisherfolk’s Month.

Data from the Provincial Agriculturist’s Office (PAGRO) showed the distribution of 9,350 hills of planting materials, including cacao (5,520), coffee (1,980), jackfruit (350), durian (1,250), and lanzones (250).

Farmers also received 615 bags of farm inputs — 123 bags of complete fertilizer, 246 bags of organic fertilizer, and 246 bags of dolomite — alongside 21 cans and packs of vegetable seeds.

“You are one of the provincial government’s priorities, because as farmers you truly need support to achieve development,” Torrejos said.

Earlier, the provincial government also conducted the Kalamboan sa Agrikultura Serbisyo Caravan in Barangay Sangab, Maco, where hundreds of farmers received seedlings and fertilizers.

During that caravan, 129 farmers enrolled in the Registry System for Basic Sector in Agriculture (RSBSA), the government’s official database for farmers, fisherfolk, and farm laborers. The RSBSA serves as a targeting mechanism to identify eligible beneficiaries for subsidies, financial aid, and insurance services. (PNA)
