His rags-to-riches life story has inspired millions around the world through features about him on BBC, CNN, Financial Times, Bloomberg, and other media. At his lowest point, ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong survived on $4 a day in the US and had to let his mother stay with him at his dorm room because she had nowhere else to go. Life was definitely not easy for Sityodtong.

As a child, he grew up in a loving, well-to-do home, but everything changed when his parents lost everything in the Asian Financial Crisis. Poverty ripped his family apart. When his father abandoned the family, Chatri, at a young age, had to pick up the pieces as the oldest son.

Chatri’s mother pushed him to apply and attend Harvard, even though they did not have the money for school fees or living expenses. But somehow, he made it through and finished his Harvard education. But the hardships only continued.

When Chatri moved to Silicon Valley after graduation, he, his mother, and co-workers slept on the office floor in sleeping bags since they could not afford actual furniture and much of the space had to be used for work, anyway. They also lived on $1.50 microwave meals for a long time.

But that didn’t bother Chatri at all because he was there for one purpose and that was to chase a crazy dream of launching his first startup. Through a combination of luck, perseverance, and determination, he pulled his family out of poverty. Along the way, he also earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, helped to put his younger brother through school, bought his mom a home, provided for her financially, and became a successful self-made entrepreneur.

“Going through that suffering really taught me that I’m a fighter in life,” shares Sityodtong.

After having sold his first company and a stint working in Wall Street, Chatri still felt a sense of emptiness. In his search for meaning, he was led back to his first love–martial arts. That’s when it clicked that his mission in life was to unleash greatness in the world through the power of martial arts.

In 2011, Chatri started ONE Championship to celebrate Asia’s greatest cultural treasure and its deep-rooted Asian values of integrity, humility, honor, respect, courage, discipline, and compassion. As a lifelong martial artist, Chatri has always wanted the world to experience authentic martial arts from its birthplace.

Today, ONE is Asia’s largest billion dollar global sports media platform in history with a broadcast to 150+ countries around the world. Through the power of media and the magic of storytelling, ONE unleashes role models, celebrates values, ignites dreams, inspires nations, and changes the world.

Chatri continues his dream to make a difference in people’s lives through “The Apprentice: One Championship Edition.”

In what is said to be the toughest edition ever of the hit TV series, “The Apprentice,” 16 candidates were handpicked from around the world to compete in a high-stakes competition involving business and physical challenges. The winner will receive a US$250,000 job offer to work directly under Sityodtong for a year as his protege in Singapore.

“The Apprentice: One Championship Edition” is coming to Netflix subscribers in 150 countries beginning February 1, 2022.

Across 13 episodes, the popular format has been reimagined to test strength, character, and determination. Viewers will see World Champion athletes and top CEOs push the candidates to their breaking points.
