Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board – Davao (LTFRB-11) recognized Monday the honest gesture of a Dabawenyo jeepney driver who returned brand new phones left by his passenger.

“Now is not the time to be deceitful. Now is the time to be helpful,” LTFRB-11 Director Nonito Llanos, III said as he narrated the actions of public utility jeepney driver Edgar Edianon.

On Aug. 16, Edianon handed over to a media agency here the seven phones left by a passenger in his jeepney unit plying the Sasa-J.P. Laurel Street route.

“That is the message I would like to give to you. That our office is a family, and we should be dependable individuals for one another,” he said, as he called on other drivers to emulate the acts exemplified by Edianon.

In April 2022, the regional office also recognized the gesture of Rogelio Moniz, a taxi driver, who turned over a bag of cash containing PHP150,000.

The honest cab driver, hailing from Digos City in Davao del Sur, said he got nervous upon seeing the bag full of cash left in his unit.

However, he did not think twice about handing it over to the authorities. The bag was later identified to be the property of an online businessman, John Mel Pomoy.

Pomoy said it was supposed to be the payroll payment for his staff. (PNA)
