The city governments of Pasig and Pasay are implementing strict guidelines to reduce the risks of Covid-19 transmission in public wet markets while enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) is in effect.

Pasig Mega Market will operate from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. only, while dine-in service in food stalls is strictly prohibited.

The PasigPass quick response (QR) code is likewise required when going in and out of the market to aid the city’s contact tracing efforts.

In Pasay, the local government implemented a “market day coding scheme” wherein residents are allowed at the Pasay City Public Market only on their scheduled days as decided by their villages.

The coding scheme is to prevent the high volume of people entering the wet market’s premises and maintaining minimum health protocols, particularly on social distancing.

Residents of Barangays 1 to 40, 68 to 92, 145 to 157, 183, and 187 to 201 are allowed to go to the public market on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Those from Barangays 41 to 67, 93 to 144, 158 to 182, and 184 to 186 can do so every Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Every Sunday, the public market will accept clients from other cities and front-liners.

Both cities will also check the body temperature of residents going to the markets.

Metro Manila cities and nearby provinces Laguna, Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal will be under ECQ until April 4. (PNA)
