The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday said personal protective equipment (PPE) worth PHP2.6 billion have been procured.

In a statement, the DOH said out of the PHP3 billion budget it requested for the procurement of PPE sets under Bayanihan II, PHP2.66 billion was approved by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

As of Dec. 31 last year, the approved budget has been “fully transferred” to DBM’s Procurement Service, the procuring entity for DOH’s PPE needs.

“To date, PS-DBM is completing the procurement and deliveries of 4,477,886 PPE gowns, 13,966,780 face masks, 2,184,706 coveralls, and 1,749,364 headcovers,” the DOH said.

The DOH assured that health care workers would continue to be supported “whether through the provision of PPE sets, benefits, and vaccines throughout the pandemic and beyond.” (PNA)
